Rabbi and Krisman are two chefs in charge of the cuisine aboard the Aquarius migrant rescue ship. Rabbi on the left comes from Ghana, and Krisman on the right from Indonesia. The two chefs have been working together for three years.

On board the Aquarius, they prepare dishes from a variety of cultures such African, European, Asian, etc. The meals will feed members of the SOS Mediterranee crew, members of Doctors without Borders and journalists. At the moment, they are cooking for a total of 35 people.

“There are so many cultures on board that we aim to be diverse in our cooking,” Rabbi says. When migrants are aboard the Aquarius, Rabbi and Krisman are not in charge of their food. There are already trays of food and water fountains provided to them.
