The UN agency International Organization for Migration (IOM) has launched the online platform E-Campus through which it is possible to follow courses on migration.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has launched a free online platform on migration called E-Campus. The goal is to give government officials as well as citizens, students, professors and anyone interested in the topic an opportunity to acquire deeper knowledge on migration, IOM said in a statement.

According to the organization, the online learning tool already has thousands of users. "Most courses can be completed within three to five hours, with an IOM certificate awarded at the end," IOM said.

Over 20 online courses

E-Campus currently offers over 20 courses in Spanish, English, and French. IOM stressed that "[t]he languages on offer depend on the course and will be expanded over time."

All courses are offered by experts and specialized institutions. They cover diverse topics including migration management, dealing with vulnerable migrants, LGBTI migrant populations, human trafficking and labor migration.

'An excellent learning tool'

The platform was initially launched on a regional level in Central America and the Caribbean. During the pilot phase between 2015 and 2018, over 6,000 students reportedly completed an E-Campus course.

"The world is changing, and solutions must adapt. E-Campus is an excellent migration learning tool which is easy to access and is laden with high-level content," said Marcelo Pisani, IOM Regional Director for Central America, North America, and the Caribbean.
