The second European Conference on Border Management will take place in Athens, Greece, on February 23-24, as announced by the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum.

Ministers and Deputy Ministers of EU Member States and European Economic Area countries, European Commissioners and Heads of European Agencies such as Frontex (the European Border and Coast Guard Agency) and Europol (the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation) are expected in Athens for the conference, which is being funded by the European Union's Migration and Home Affairs Funds.

An exchange of views on measures, instruments, capacities and policies

"Participants will exchange views on measures, instruments as well as capacities and policies, including those on returns, relating to existing and future challenges on the management of EU borders," said a brief statement from the Migration Ministry.

The Conference's proceedings, dinner and press conference will take place at the "Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens".On Thursday, February 23rd, the Minister of Migration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis will deliver opening remarks at the working dinner of the conference, while the Vice-President of the European Commission, and Commissioner for Promoting our European Way of Life, Margaritis Schinas, will deliver a keynote speeches.

On Friday, February 24th, during the working session, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, will deliver a keynote speech.

The representatives of the countries in charge of organizing the conference (Greece, Austria, Lithuania, Poland) will hold a press conference on Friday the 24th (12:00-13:00 local time).

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French, German, Greek, Italian and Spanish.
